The Memory of Water is a story about three sisters piecing together their past through each others contradicting memories. Set in the bedroom of their recently deceased mother, as Mary, Teresa and Catherine sort through their mother's belongings they resurface family secrets, reopen old scars and attempt to accept the circumstances of their mothers life and death. The sisters confront themselves their partners, their pasts and the memory of their mother making 'The Memory of Water' a moving and richly comic examination of family life and the difference between what we remember and the truth. 'The Memory of Water' won the 2000 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
