Think of your favourite 80s movie character....ever wondered what they're up to today?

The Flashback in conjunction with the Laughing Horse Free Festival are proud to present a preview run of THE 80s MOVIE FLASHBACK - a stand up / character / sketch comedy show premiering at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  It revisits classic characters from your favourite 80s movies.

The show is hosted by Alex Frik, a geeky 80s movie obsessive, who has scoured the land to bring all these character together in one place to tell the world about their lives today.  Characters such as:

Marty McFly and the Doc, who have been travelling through time meeting everyone
Maverick, who’s now out of the Top Gun academy, and runs a karaoke bar in Telford Mr. Miyagi and Daniel the Karate Kid, who are still pupil and master but now run the Okinawa Dojo / Bed & Breakfast in Torquay
Freddie Kruger, who is trying to reinvent himself in a bid to make a comeback as a celebrity chef
Dirty Dancing’s Baby and Johnny, who are promoting their new workout DVD

Plus additional 80s movie special guests !

This unique and innovative style of comedy (once described as being “like an adult panto that is based around stand up, or stand up based around an adult panto”), combined with the nostalgic associations of the 80s that it delivers, makes it instantly hit an emotive chord in the audience. With its lo-fi costumes and off-kilter impressions, this feelgood show has touchpoints ranging from Vic Reeves Big Night Out, to the likes of Lucas & Walliams’ Rock Profile and Bo Selecta.

Following this preview run, the 80s Movie Flashback will run from 7th-22nd August as part of the Laughing Horse Free Festival, at the Counting House, 38 West Nicolson St, Edinburgh. Shows 7th-13th August start at 16.20, whilst 14th-22nd Augusts start at 00.15.

Riding the current wave of nostalgia for all things 80s, the show has been developed by comedy team the Flashback, made up of comedy circuit regulars Rik Moore (“fabulously funny original gags”, Chortle), Rachel Anderson ("an up and coming talent...brilliant", Thisislocallondon) and Fraser (“My Flatmate the Comedian” from Radio 1’s The Scott Mills Show).
