|
| A double bill of Greek classics; one comedy and one tragedy, re-visited with a modern twist by two very different international directors.
Lysistrata
The city of Athens have been awash in violence for many years. Tired of the bloodshed, one woman, Lysistrata, formulates a plan for peace. Can sex triumph over violence? Through hip-hop dance and physicality, this urban re-make brings Aristaphanes’ comedy from ancient Greece to the streets of London.
The Bacchae
Dionysus is furious because his own hometown does not believe he is a god and refuses to worship him. He will do whatever it takes to convert them, but can people be converted through violence?
Creating two worlds that collide, actors and puppets fight a battle of faith.
