The story of the renowned actor who was at one time considered to be one of the finest black British actors, and an inspiration to a whole generation of black entertainers. The play concentrates on Beaton's life off stage and the trials and tribulations he went through from his early years in Guyana through to his life in England. Norman Beaton was one of those unique actors who managed to scale classical roles, yet excel in light comedies. est known for his was his six year run as the eponymous hero in Channel 4's Desmond's, written by Trix Worral, a role which won him the Royal Television Society Best Comedy Performer Award. He was also, however, a fine Shakespearean actor, entrepreneur and father. A funny, touching and insightful character study of an often misunderstood entertainer. The play concentrates on Beaton's life offstage, showing the trials and tribulations he faced from his early years in Guyana through to his life in England. | | |
