The Lion & Unicorn Theatre is delighted to announce the first half of its programme for 2012.
Opening with a season of new writing, followed by a season of Shakespeare plays and adaptations and culminating in a season of musicals.
The World Premieres of 'Dance Class' by Andre Radmall and John Thompson's 'A Russian Play' directed by David Salter, run throughout January and February respectively. The season concludes in March over the week of St Patrick's day with Recovery Position by Irish playwrights Maria Kennedy & Caroline Byrne.
A season of Shakespeare plays and adaptations opens in March with 'Measure For Measure', 'The Tamer Tamed' and the World Premiere of 'The War Of The Waleses', a Shakespeare project for the RSC Open Stages in 2012. Custom Practice and Graffiti Productions join forces to stage 'As You Like It' in April, directed by Rae Mcken. The New London company return with 'Macbeth' as part of their repertory season in June.
Exchange Theatre will be returning in February and July with some fresh French Theatre. after their sell out Bastille Week in 2011.
The Lion & Unicorn Theatre is to host its first season of musicals with the World Premiere of 'The Hard Boiled Egg And The Wasp' a new musical about Dan Leno by Andy Street (American Idol/ So You Think You Can Dance) and Jonathan Kydd (The Castle, BBC Radio 4), running initially for a month from 22nd May and featuring 20 original numbers.
'Newland' a new musical about the goldrush, 'The Beggars Opera' from the New London Company, 'Sir Henry At Rawlinson's End' and 'The Wolves Descend' a new opera from Little Room Productions round off an exhilarating repertoire for the first half of 2012.
