| | When any one emotion or passion occupies us entirely, the need for revenge crackles and glimmers among the flames that torment us. Forty one years have passed, the Austro Hungarian Empire has collapsed, but betrayal still burns as bright as the day Konrad disappeared. Two men at the dusk of their lives have been waiting for one night, a meeting, in the deserted Hungarian castle of their youth. An adaptation of Sandor Marai's Embers, this is a poignant and fated encounter between a traveller and a hermit, an artist and an outsider, underscored throughout with live music. As part of Giant Olive's NTA Programme, Embers will be produced by Arabella Wynne-Hughes and Edit Boros, two final year Creative Production students from London South Bank University. This production is open to students, and staff of the National Theatre Archive and London South Bank University.
